Summary of the Club Assembly held on 28/01/2026

There were 19 attendees on line.

Apologies: Leo Spinori, Bruce Smith, Chris Moxey, and John Oswald

L Shedden report:

  1. L. Shedden reported on the Regionalisation Project. RI has extended the pilot program for 2 more years until 30/06/2028. This coincides with the finish of Judy Beasley’s year as DG.
  2. Due to falling Rotary membership Australia is to be re-Districted. New boundaries will be realigned with jurisdictional boundaries (State borders). These will take effect from 1/7/2028.
  3. Also for the same reason there will be a world rezoning effecting Oceania Zone. More countries will be added to our Global Zone. Not sure of long term effect yet. At a Club level there will be no changes in the short term.
  4. Lesley has taken on 2 new international roles: District Representative on the Council of Legislation. (This is the council that changes the rules of Rotary as deemed necessary, every 3 years). And Assistant Company Secretary for the Regional Council.

Motor Show: T Hall advised that 70 entries have already been received.  There has been new sponsors signed up and the Saturday Cruise has been re routed due to the Otway Bushfires.

Treasurers Financial Report to 31st Dec.  G Hogan spoke to this and addressed questions. He also advised that we will be paid by the Cadell Evans Race for the rostered volunteers no longer required because of race cancellations due to bush fires.

President Kelly put forward the proposition that the Club investigate, as a major project, the concept of a Big Surfboard structure for Torquay.

Linda Neale put out a meeting request for volunteers for a Bunnings BBQ on March 8th but this needs an email to all members to properly ascertain interest.

The Club Assembly closed on time at 7.30pm
