Watch the presentation by Ramesh now: End Polio Now with Ramesh Ferris.mp4

As part of World Polio Day celebrations and promotions, Foundation Chair Lesley shred most recent data about the fight to eradicate Polio and introduced Global End Polio Ambassador Ramesh Ferris, by video.

In addition, polio survivor and club member Trevor B, shared some of his story, in particular talking about the way paralysis from polio remerges in later life.

Paralytic Polio continues to be endemic in only two countries – Afghanistan (42 this year) and Pakistan (6 this year). And while these numbers are small, they have doubled in the last month.  Until we have zero cases for three consecutive years, we are not free of the risk.

If rotary was to stop our efforts to eradicate polio now, within 10 years as many as 200,000 new cases of paralytic polio could occur around the world each year.

You can donate to End Polio online on this link. It really is very simple. Every $1 we donate is matched $2 for $1 by the Gates Foundation, making it $3 which is the cost of a single dose of vaccine for one child.

Thank you for your support.
