The Royce and Jean Abbey Vocational Scholarship program was established in recognition of Royce Abbey's contribution to Rotary as an inspirational Rotarian and leader from 1954 to 2014, and as president of Rotary International in 1988-89. The agricultural and related scholarships aim to assist communities in developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region by enabling recipients to spend up to three months in Australia undertaking practical training in their particular fields.

Members would be aware that Torquay, Geelong and Bayside Geelong Rotary Clubs have been discussing the prospect of applying to the program to fund two scholarships associated with our international project in the Gulf Province of Papua New Guinea: the development of the Lese Olai Village School. This is an opportunity to learn more about the scholarships from David Abbey, Royce and Jean Abbey's son and member of the Rotary Club of Essendon.

The invitation to this online meeting is extended to partners and guests, members of the Rotary Clubs of Geelong and Bayside Geelong, and others interested in the scholarship program and the project it may fund.

Log-on at 6.15pm for some social fellowship before this online meeting gets underway at 6.30pm.
