There was a very small crowd at the Races on Monday Night.
We were joined by fellow Rotarian Lea Clements from the Rotary Club of Rizal West, Rob Shedden, Helen Plumridge, Alison Reed, and I noticed a couple of ‘cameo’ appearances by Josie Fratantaro and Lois Gill.
The 18 of us enjoyed a fascinating presentation by Neil Henderson as he told us about his time as part owner – and the life of – the Great Horse Bezos.

Donations in Kind are having a book sale on the 20th of November – raising funds for Papua New Guinea.

Cowrie Markets are Back!!
After long negotiations, the organisers of the Cowrie Market have secured 4 dates this season.
The first being 21st of November. Followed by the 3rd Sunday in December, January, and February.
As well as having our BBQ, we are ‘manning’ one of the 3 gates set up to enter and exit the market area.
Mal has called for volunteers for the 21st, and to date has had little response.
Please consider this date – and the other 3 – as we need 7 people on each shift (to cover both the gate and BBQ).
What an absolutely fantastic weekend we had last weekend with our Art and Book Sale!
We planned to have the sale on for 4 days – and was close to sold out on day 2!
On Sunday we packed what was left up – and vacated the shop!
We took $4,862 – with a profit of $4,800.
A huge vote of Thanks goes to Mal Slater for sourcing the artwork and coordinating the event.
Thank you to all members who volunteered over the 2 days and contributed to this amazing result.
Bruce Turner is putting in a lot of time promoting and running Pets on Parade.

Great News Troops ---- We are back to Face 2 Face meetings!!
Next Monday 8th November we are meeting at Kithbrooke Park.
Jan Emmett has liaised with the management of Kithbrooke Park, working through the regulations and the directives from both government and the meeting room. Thanks Jan!
Jan has published in last week’s bulletin and sent an email out to all members outlining the rules and regulations of attending meetings at Kithbrooke Park.
Please familiarise yourselves with the requirements.
Please note folks – you must be double Vaccinated to be able to enter the centre.
To save any embarrassment – please remain home until you have had your second ‘shot’.
While talking about Kithbrooke Park – We are going to require members to assist each afternoon/evening.
Firstly, we will need 2 people to move tables around to suit our meeting. Ideally, we meet at the Kithbrooke Meeting Room around 4.30pm, and the tables are moved to suit us.
Tables must be in place before 5.00pm, as the caterers commence their setting up at 5pm.
We will require an Attendance Officer, COVID Marshall, Vaccination Officer and Greeter…. 4 people.
OK ------- what does each role involve?
Moving tables –
As the room is set up differently for different events and functions held in the meeting room, tables need to be arranged to suit each function held. The tables are quite heavy and ideally require 2 people to lift them.
Attendance Officer –
As in the past, collect each of the dinner payments as people arrive …. Including using the credit card machine.
COVID Marshall –
To stand by the door, make sure everyone who comes QR Codes before entering, and hand sanitisers, and has a mask on.
Vaccination Officer –
This person will have a register and must make sure they ‘sight’ each person’s proof of Double Vaccination and complete the details on the register. Each person who enters must actually show their proof either on your smart phone, or official certificate.
Note – a members double vaccination proof need only be sited once.
For example – all those who volunteered at the Art Sale, already have their double vaccinated details sited and noted – so no need to do it again.
Greeter –
To meet and greet members and visitors, and ensure any member is involved in conversations with others.
I am looking forward to seeing you at Kithbrooke Park on Monday – for our first face 2 face meeting in some time.
As we are a bit rusty on Face 2 Face meetings can I please ask that you RSVP ASAP via the invitation email that you received from Chairman John Oswald on Friday this will assist our Caterers Rodney and Lorraine with their preparations.
