Our Village May 2026

What a wonderful warm greeting I received when I delivered our donated goodies to Our Village. Must admit I felt very loved. The staff at Our Village love to see us walk through the gates with our donations.

They love the knitted/crocheted blankets and can see the love that is poured into the making of them. A huge thank you to those who made the squares and to Mary Henderson and Erika Turner for putting the squares together into some amazing and colourful blankets.

We contributed nappies, wipes and toiletries as well as some knitted jumpers. All of which were gratefully received. 

My conversation with Jacqui is that their donations are down, as are their volunteers. Many volunteers travel a fair distance, and the current economic climate is not conducive to them travelling as often.

Thank you everyone for your help and contribution. It has been gratefully received.

Say Yes To Respectful Relationships; Be Kind 

Say No to Domestic and Family Violence 

At the recent Board Meeting we decided to change what we do to increase awareness around “Domestic and Family Violence”

We are making “Say Yes to Respectful Relationships; Be Kind” our key focus. 

We were thinking of having a walk on 16^th May to celebrate the Epic Service of Rotary. However, as we are at the Cowrie Market the next day, we thought we would actually have more of an impact if we utilized our site at the Cowrie Market to get our message across. 

We are going to have our signs, purple netting and our purple vests. Hopefully we will get some pamphlets and/or business cards that people may pick up

If anyone can give me a little bit of assistance that would be amazing.

On Tuesdays, (1030-1130) at Wurdi Baierr Stadium, there is Mixed Walking Basketball. Oh my, what fun! And what is more there is no cost. Only requirement is that you are 55yo and over.

We did 30mins of drills, then played a half court fun game, with 4 on each side. Rules include no running and jumping – to protect the ageing and minimize the risk of fractures etc.

Come along on Tuesday mornings and join in the fun and do some exercise. Afterwards there is an opportunity to have a cuppa and chat for 30 minutes.
