Well .... let’s go back to my last post when we arrived at Inverness .... that night we had a piper, who piped our group into the dining room! That created some interest from other patrons in there!!
Monday, we had a walk around Inverness in the morning ... then went to the Malt Rooms. Yep, a Whiskey tasting!!! Another great experience!
Following that, and a quick double patty venison burger for lunch, we went on a Loch Ness River Cruise.
It was great to be on the Ness River, and into Loch Ness....although we did get heavy rain on the way back.
Tuesday left Inverness and continued through the highlands and the magnificent scenery.
Went to South West Cairns, the area that inspired the opening for the series Outlander.
Went to Culloden, the area where the Jacobite rising came to a brutal head in 1746.
Followed Loch Ness and into Plockton, a nice fishing village.
From there, over the relatively new bridge onto the Isle of Skye.
Poured rain all night!
But .... this resulted in some amazing waterfalls, as we travelled around the Isle of Skye, North Highland, Scenery.
Stopped at Fairy Bridge in the pouring rain, onto Kilt Rock.
Continued through the mountains admiring the scenery, coastlines, and surrounds.
Stopped at the Flora MacDonald grave ... very big in Scottish history....
Before returning to the hotel via a history museum.
Left the hotel early this morning, as we had to be on the Ferry from Skye back to the 'mainland' to Mullaig. Lovely brisk, wet morning. It basically rained all day. Lucky for us there was only a few short stops. Most of the day was travelling, admiring the lovely scenery, coastlines, and Lochs (Rivers).
Went to Glenfinnan .... the town that has the viaduct used in the Harry Potter movies! Each day around 10.45am, the steam train crosses this bridge.
From there to another 20-minute Ferry ride, in the wind, rain and chop ....
Off the ferry and drove to Tobermory, where we had dinner before arriving at our hotel in Mull.
