Time sure flies!

After our 2 weeks in Ireland....we arrived in London Sunday 16th and grabbed a taxi to our Airbnb in Vauxhall.
Monday caught the Underground (trains) to St Paul's Cathedral (yep another one!!).
Walked to Tower of London and had a guided tour there before walking through the 'venue' and having a good look at everything including the 'Crown Jewels' and many centuries of collected crowns, jewellery and (irreplaceable) royalty regalia. No photography at all was allowed in here ... We spent about 3 hours at Tower of London.
Looked at and walked through (both) Tower Bridge 'passages' between the 2 towers ... yep .. again, well worth it. A great view 'up and down The Thames River.
Walked from there to and across London Bridge.
London Bridge looks so different to the vision in James Bond 'Skyfall'!! ...can't remember seeing so many people on the Bridge in the movie!!!
Tuesday, we went to Harry Potter World. Spent the afternoon there looking at all that goes onto making these movies. All very impressive and looking at how all those people working in so many different areas, or departments, make it all come together.
Yes ... saw another castle today...Hogwarts!!
After our 1 1/2-hour bus journey back to 'London' we went to Trafalgar Square, checked out the sights around there, had tea and finished with a couple of 'nightcaps' in 'Mr Foggs Tavern' a great little Pub.
Wednesday started off with a slow .... yes, very slow!  'Hop on Hop off' bus trip around some of the streets and sights of London. As you do ... you sit up top to get the best view. Started off well, cruising past parliament, Big Ben. After nearly 2 hours of traffic, traffic lights and crawling around the monopoly board, we got off ... we did see some sights London has to offer. As we decided to get off the heavens opened!! And did it rain. The rain jacket lasted a minute, maybe 2 before being drenched through!
So ... what to do ... head into Westminster Abby! Very wet and 'bedraggled'.
Westminster Abby is amazing. It is incredible what is in and around this place. So much to see read and take in. There is so many tombs, graves, memorials, and chapels all with in Westminster Abby. It really is a 'must' if you have the opportunity...
Thursday, we went to the Borough Market, with about 180,000 of our closest unknown friends. Found some lovely treats there and plenty of fresh produce...anything from fruit, vegies, seafood, cheese, freshly prepared food ready to eat and just about anything else you can imagine. Just join the que at the stall!!
Went on a Thames River cruise. Almost made it to the end (sitting up top again!) And 'down she came again' another massive down pour. Even found a plaque with my name on it ... as a previous skipper of the boat, just the dates are different!
Came back to the unit to dry out. Thought we'd go and see Buckingham Palace.
Seemed like a good idea ... blue skies and Sunshine..... got off the train to more (heavy rain!) Don't think they have light showers here!!
Anyhow, quite wet we got to see Buckingham Palace.
Walking down the Mall ... about 1/3 of the way.... a lovely thunder and lightning storm .... yep, with extra heavy rain!!! Tried a couple of places to shelter.
Walked to the Horse and Guardsmen pub, thought we'd grab a drink and wait for the down pour to ease....so did about 5,000 other people!
Left there for tea in China town before heading back to Mr Foggs for Thursday night sing-along. What a great night, singing many well-known 'ditties'.
Went to my Auntie's place in Seven Oaks for a 'long' weekend....
Back in London, off to Scotland Thursday 28th....
Cheers
Mick
