Established in response to COVID-19 lockdowns, DV Safe Phone collects, repurposes and gifts mobile devices to victims of domestic violence (DV) in need.
This is done in partnership with registered charities, safe houses and law enforcement authorities serving this vulnerable community. A practical, community-driven initiative, DV Safe Phone has to date facilitated the delivery of over 5,000 safe phones to enable victims to access help when it is needed most.
The Rotary Club of Grovedale Waurn Ponds has decided to partner with this cause and garner support from our local service clubs and businesses and has provided the following information:
This link gives you a very detailed pack on why, what & how. Your unused phone could save a life. Your member's & families can get involved by bringing their surplus working mobile phones to your meetings and we will arrange to collect same from you in the future.
Phones of course need to be reset back to factory settings to ensure you are not sharing any personal information. Instructions for iPhones & Androids on available on the website.
You may also have a member who has a local business that would be prepared to sponsor a box & become a collection point for the general public to drop their phones to.
Not only are we supporting a worthy cause we are keeping these phones out of landfill.
We shall be in touch within the next month to track progress & arrange collection of any phones you have.
Thanking you all in anticipation
