On Friday morning, President Linda and I attended an awareness and acknowledgement morning tea held at ‘Our Village’ in Geelong. Many of you will be familiar with this amazing organisation which was previously known as ‘Geelong Mums’.
I have visited here many times over the past years and am always amazed at their dedication to serve the community of families who are ‘doing it tough’ within Geelong and surrounding communities. They have a huge army of smiling and skilled volunteers who are very valued.
Linda and I dropped off two carloads of donated goods - from Rotary families and our friends at BNI Surfcoast Connections. They thanked us for these donations and said they need much more to enable them to fulfill the needs of the community leading up to the Christmas season.
So .... every meeting night, I will have a plastic box available for any donations eg. disposable nappies, wipes, and toiletries such as shampoos, conditioners, deodorants. As well, they would love some recycled children’s clothes, toys and books.
If you are not comfortable or knowledgeable in buying any of the above, feel free to drop some money into the box and I will do the shopping on your behalf. I’m an excellent ‘sales’ shopper!
Cheers
Gail Birchall - Community Service Director
