Chris Fryar - Paul Harris Fellow
The Rotary Club of Torquay deemed Chris Fryer efforts worthy of recognition by nominating you as a Paul Harris Fellow.
Chris is a very passionate person and has 4 key areas in his life that he dedicates himself to and he loves to share each one with us at Rotary:
- Family – he always shares their milestones with the club. The boys achievements in sport and other activities.
- Work – he is enjoying a very successful career as a nurse and medical administrator. His work in the area of health is a major contribution to the community.
- Rotary – well he just loves his Rotary club, you only had to listen to him talk about Rotary at the information earlier this year.
- Recreation – golf, ebay trading, and currently bush walking. Takes the environment and safety very seriously as demonstrated in a talk he gave.
Chris has filled a number of key roles in the Rotary club. One outstanding achievement was the “Flipper cards”. These were designed to help stem the tide of youth suicide. The flipper cards have grown from a concept brought to the club by Chris which the club supported and now is a national program.
Chris is (I think) the only Rotary President to conduct a club in shorts and bare feet.
Chris has produced the club annual report for the past 10 years – well done.
President in 2004-2005.
During that year among other things you were instrumental in getting the first Men’s health night under way, a first for the club.
Saying – if you want something done ask a busy person – stands true.
2009 Chris organised the Youth Exchange weekend hosted in Torquay. This was very successful and quite profitable for the club.
