Rotary Theme - "Act with Consistency Credibility Continuity"
Mindy Nagra returned from Canada after her twelve months youth exchange. We organized a wine appreciation night with the Rotary Club of Grovedale which was held at the Torquay Surf Club. There were many working bees at the Torquay Surf Club painting the toilets and passageways. We supported the TorquayPrimary School in their efforts to send 20 year 6 students to Sydney to support the Paralympics. Jodie Smith was selected to go to Argentina as a member of the Group Study Exchange team. Our annual combined dinner auction with the Lions Club of Torquay raised $6,500. Our share of the money raised went towards purchasing "two way" radios for all the emergency services in Torquay, enabling all paid and voluntary organizations to communicate on the same frequency. This was a first in Victoria and possibly Australia. Members of the various organizations were invited to our dinner and presented with the radios. Sally Thompson returned from her twelve months exchange to Finland. Our Easter raffle and Bell's Beach parking raised over $11,000. We received recognition with a plaque for the greatest contribution per member to the Australian Rotary Health Research Fund from the District.
