President's Report No 2
Good Evening Everyone,
Wow where did the week go, it was just one week ago today that I became your President and I hope everyone enjoyed the break from Rotary duties. I will conduct my very 1st duty as your President tomorrow night and of course, it’s a Club Planning meeting, talk about get thrown in the deep end…!!
But a huge thank you goes’ to my right-hander, Secretary Maggie, for helping me out these last couple of days getting everything prepared.
I really hope you can join me and your new Board to get some idea as to how we are planning the year ahead. Obviously not everything will be discussed tomorrow night as you as members will be encouraged to put forward any ideas you may have yourselves later down the track.
As you may, or not, be aware that we have 6 new Paul Harris Fellows to congratulate and I would hope we all have a glass of something in our hands to do a ‘here’s cheers’ to them, Congratulations again, they were all well deserved.
Mary & Neil Henderson were clever - they ventured into NSW before the border closed and
have been able to have a family reunion with their family and Grandchildren at Yamba
___________
A number of us joined the Grovedale/Waurn Ponds Changeover function on Wednesday evening to welcome David Carlyle into the chair as President for 20-21
Due to COVID, Dr John and I have been unable to get around to the Clubs to promote Interplast and the fabulous raffle for 2 Travel Vouchers, anywhere in the world, but probably in Victoria if you want to use them in this Pandemic year!! Think of Daylesford Accommodation & Spa, The snow, High Country or Yarra Valley Wineries and stay, Luxurious Retreats, Melbourne CBD, even simulate flying a jet, or balloon ride if you’re game.
....or you are not confident enough to book a holiday the Prize may be redeemed for Cash.
I am hoping that those of you who missed out on sharing Changeover in one of the Hosts houses will purchase some tickets which are selling for $10 each.
Please give me a call and I will get the tickets to you.
With thanks and gratitude not only from myself and John, but also from the children and families for whom Interplast makes such an amazing difference.
This year, in a fortunate twist the COVID-19 Pandemic has provided every Rotarian the opportunity to participate in the 2020 Convention including all of the Breakout Sessions without the cost of travelling to Hawaii for the experience.
I encourage you to click the poster below and take a look at what is on offer and register for the sessions that you are interested in
Most Sessions were recorded and are available to view when yo click on the original Break-out Session link.
Here are links for 2 great sessions that I attended at the RI Convention if you are interested in taking a look.

During this time of no hands on Rotary activities Clubs are being forced to be innovative when it comes to fundraising. The Rotary Club of Drysdale has created one such program utilising Catherine Eagleson's Clue Detective Puzzles as a basis for this.
Our Club is discussing the extent to which we support this program however in the meantime you may be interested in getting involved individually, right now.
Torquay Rotary are now meeting online every Monday (excluding public holidays) at 7:00pm. All Members are invited to participate and we have resumed a program including Guest speakers and some fun activities.
Visitors and Guests are very welcome. If you would like to join us please
Here's a challenge for everyone...….in these "different" times in which we are living there are more and more Clubs now holding on-line meetings so now it's easier than it's ever been to do a make-up.
You can do them from the comfort of your own home and you don't even have to get dressed up.
Let's have a club challenge to see who can do a make up form the most interesting city. Be sure to grab a screen shot of your meeting and send to me for the bulletin.
What a great way to meet other Rotarians from around the world and to find out how they are living through the COVID-19 lockdowns.
To make it easy the Rotary Club of Mount Lawley in WA have begun compiling a list of Clubs who are now holding On-Line Meetings to view the list click the link below.
Whilst we all are dealing with the COVID 19 Virus and the restrictions this has placed on our Club Meetings and all of us personally, future meetings will held through the ZOOM Platform.
All details for how to log into the Zoom Meetings can be found in the article elsewhere in the Bulletin, on the Club Website & Facebook pages. remember that Guests are also available.
Club Members and friends also come together over the airwaves to meet and chat socially at the Friday night Happy Hour so I hope you can join in & enjoy the connection
This is the last meeting before I hand over to the new Club Service Director Amanda Hough, so I would just like to thank everyone who has assisted with meetings, events and vocational visits throughout the year
