This week saw us meet on Monday night for a Vocational visit to the newly built Arthur Reed Photos premises in Grovedale. 

We were welcomed by Michael & Alison Reed as well as CEO Jason Butcher, who lead us on a very informative tour both inside and outside! 

The Reed’s have developed their former site into a well functioning hub that utilises the space to its fullest potential.  The area housing ARP showcases their innovative and leading edge technology and expertise in all th hings to do with mass production of photos and associated goods. It was extremely interesting to learn how the business has evolved and innovated to remain one of the top performers in this industry. 

After the tour 30 members and guests headed to the Grovedale Hotel for a meal and catch up. It was a very enjoyable night and again thank you to Michael & Alison Reed and Jason for allowing us a peek inside the world of Arthur Reed Photos and the redevelopment of the area. 

For members who have contacted me regarding the Celebration of Life for Chris Sims, the family will advise details shortly. 

We also had PE Linda Neale and International Director Ray Ayers attend PELS & District Assembly earlier in the month and they will provide a verbal report at Monday’s meeting.  

Speaking of which – this will be Leo’s final presentation to the Club on his Rotary Youth Exchange to Australia. Personally, I am really looking forward to this and encourage all members to register and attend to support Leo. 

I was remiss in last week’s Bulletin to celebrate Mother’s Day – thank you for all you do in whatever way. You are loved and appreciated ♥ Special thanks to the mum’s that worked on the Bunnings BBQ!

Welfare Officer – Maggie Isom has for many years undertaken this role, with care and respect to members and their families. She has recently advised me that she wishes to step down from the role. On behalf of the Club, I would like to thank Maggie for her efforts in this area and epitomising “Service Above Self”, whilst also dealing with her own personal issues. Your care and thoughtfulness have not gone unnoticed and has provided comfort to those in need 💐💞 

Ben Featherston has agreed to take on the role, and we thank him for stepping into this position.  

The Board met on Thursday to consider Fundraising Disbursements for the 2025/2026 year. This will be further discussed with members at our next Club Assembly on 1 June 2026. 

Finally, we have our one-off final Cowrie Market BBQ on Sunday where we are GOING PURPLE to highlight our awareness of ‘Say NO to Domestic & Family Violence’ and Say YES to Respectful Relationships’. We will be decking out the BBQ trailer, have signage and wearing our purple hi vis vests plus we will be doing roving walks through the market during the day.   Please check the roster and pop by if you’re out and about on Sunday.
