I hope you all enjoyed watching the Grand Final last weekend. What a game! Think there were many who were disappointed that Freo didn’t win. Maybe next year. But then again “Go Cats”
Resale Shed
Saturday saw us at the Resale shed. The morning was relatively busy, but it did go quiet after lunch. We do not have a shift for the remainder of the year. But if you are prepared to go in at short notice; then we could respond if they have an emergency shift. We were all very responsible and did not go home with more than we went with.
Club Assembly
It was a mixed Club Assembly this time. Our Membership Director Bruce T has resigned from Rotary to pursue more travelling and family time. He will be greatly missed. He did some amazing work with Rotary and has been a great Rotarian. Thank you so much Bruce for all you have done for the Rotary Club of Torquay and also for me personally – mentoring me in my Community and Presidency Roles.
Then we added to our Directors – Gail B is now the Community Service Director; and John W is Environment Director – thank you both for taking on these roles. I really appreciate your input. Please Rotarians, ‘consider nominations/nominating for the next Rotary Year
Michael R was awarded a Ruby Paul Harris badge. Congratulations and well-done Michael, for your valuable contribution to Rotary International. It was great to see Michael speechless for a minute or two!!
We then got down to some serious discussions, for which I was grateful for. This is your Club, not my Club – so I value one and all opinions and where you see us heading and how we can do this better.
Suggestions
- Bulletin to continue coming out weekly; including rosters and reports from the Directors. We will have them write a report on a roster so you are not inundated with the information in one Bulletin.
- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month – we will remember Judy R but also give thanks for the Breast Cancer Survivors. Our Club is not immune from Cancer / Breast Cancer. During October we could each walk 58kms for the month of October to recognise the 58 Australians diagnosed with Breast Cancer each month
- October is also End Polio Month with World Polio Day on 24th October. We are being encouraged to walk 10, 20 or 50 kms during October to raise funds for the End Polio Campaign. Join or support the Torquay Rotary Walk with us to End Polio team on this link - https://www.rotarywalkwithus.org/fundraisers/teamtorquayrotary
- We should be very fit if we complete both these walks. Please register and help us eradicate both diseases
- The AGM will be held on 22nd November 2026. Please put that in your Diaries. Please consider our 2027/28 Board. Think about Nominations or putting your hand up for a position and have your say.
Have a great week; stay safe. Linda
