Back to Normal Meetings This Week

President Gerard and Kathryn have been occupied this week visiting Gerard's Mother in Hospital this week, and since we had no meeting last week, there is  no Presidents Report this week.
Our thoughts are with Gerard and Kathryn and we hope that Gerards Mothers condition improves.
The most important news is that this week is
  • we finally return to home base at the Lions Village for our regular Monday night Meetings.
  • Also with only 2 weeks until our next major Club event, the Surf Coast Dog Walk I hope that all members have indicated to Lesley Shedden your availability to help on the day.
See you Monday Night when we will be hearing from Jordan Kelly, our RYLA attendee.

Entry on the day is gold coin donation, with a $5 entry fee for each event.  To encourage participants to raise sponsorship money, we will have a draw a for anyone who rises over $100 with some great prizes.

“Boys in the Band” Concert Ballarat,
Her Majesty’s Theatre, Thursday April 2nd 8:00pm

You are probably aware that the District Interplast committee has made its major fundraiser for the year a presentation at Her Majesty's on April 2, the Thursday evening before Easter.

The show ‘Boys in the Band’ celebrates the world’s greatest hits from the most iconic bands of the 20th century!
Billed as “the feel good show of the year” the high energy concert features of 50years of tunes such as Walk Like a Man, Sherry, Can’t Buy Me Love, Let it Be, Hey Jude, Imagine, Blame it on the Boogie, ABC, Unchained Melody, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Surfin’ USA, Good Vibrations, Staying Alive and medleys of the biggest hits the world has ever known.

The "Boys in the Band" have enchanted audiences right across the globe performing a two week season at The Mandela Theatre in South Africa and at the F1 Grand Prix in Singapore, followed by their hugely successful first Australian tour in 2014 which included a string of shows at the iconic Arts Centre Melbourne.

Tickets will be at the normal price ($59) but $29 will be rebated back to the Interplast committee for District 9780. Please select Rotary and use the promotional code Interplastwhen booking

Distrct Conference 2015

It is now just over two weeks before we celebrate the work of our District, be inspired, meet fellow Rotarians and have fun at the 2015 District 9780 Conference in historic Maryborough, Central Victoria at the District 9780 District Conference on the week-end of March 20th to 22nd.

If you haven't already registered, we encourage you to do so within the next week because registrations will be closing on Friday, March 13th. We have to let our caterers know numbers by then, and we need time to prepare Conference materials and make our final preparations.

District 9780 "Ride to Ballarat"

District 9810 Invitation to District 9780

Rotary District 9810 is hosting its District Conference in Ballarat between the 13th and 15th March 2015. Our District has held a fundraising bike ride every year for the last 28 years and next year we start our ride from District Conference on Sunday 15th and ride 808 ks finishing up in Ballarat on Friday 20th March. The ride leaves from Federation University, Mt Helen Campus, Ballarat (formerly Ballarat University).

The ride is to raise funds for Australian Rotary Health and as I am sure you will appreciate the more riders, the bigger chance of raising more funds. Next year we hope to raise in excess of $40,000 which will get us very close, if not over the $1 million dollars mark, raised for ARH since the inception of the Rides to and from District Conference.

If there are any bike riders in the community or in the Rotary Clubs of District 9780 who may like to join us for the ride and raise funds for ARH on behalf or their own club or on a personal basis, we would love you to join us. All funds raised would be credited by ARH to the individuals or to their own Rotary Club. The ride is open to both Rotarians, their spouses, and any other members of the public who would like to join us.

For further information please read (1) our flyer attached below, (2) for complete information refer to our Web Site found at www.rotaryrideforresearch.com.au, or (3) contact our ride Co-ordinator

The Fellowship of Motorcycling Rotarians is but one of these and I have just received their latest e-Newsletter for which I have created a link at the end of this story. It contains some very interesting reading which gives insight to what one Fellowship is all about.

MEETING APOLOGIES - What do I do?

Notifying someone about changes to your meeting attendance is your responsibility!

Our meetings have catered dinners, so if you are unable to attend a meeting, or if your partner is unable to attend a designated Partner's Night, YOU MUST ADVISE us of your or your partner’s absence.  This also applies if you are attending the meeting but not dining.

There are two ways to do this, either record the information in advance in the "Apology Book" that is available at each meeting or telephone 03-5222-2022.  An answering service operates out of hours.
  • All apologies must be made no later than 9.00AM on the Monday of the meeting (unless other arrangements were addressed in the Bulletin).
  • If no apology is recorded by that time, the absentee member will be issued with an invoice to pay the Club the dinner fee of $25 for your non-attendance, and/or that of your partner if it is an official Partner's Night.
  • REMEMBER on "Partners Nights" it is assumed that you partner IS attending unless you apologise for them!
Remember if you are bringing guests or your partner (to a non-partner night) you need to notify us of the extra number of persons who will be attending.

Absence on travel is not an excuse.  It must be recorded beforehand in the “Apology Book”.
Not all of us were able to make the trek to District Changeover in June, however I am sure that members of our Club would prefer not to have to wait until DG Geoff's Club visit on 6th October to get to know more about him and his vision for District 9780.
........well  thanks to District Media Guru Tony Stewart and modern technology you can hear DG Geoff James acceptance speech by CLICK HERE or follow the link below (Please Note:- you may need to view this bulletin in your web browser to see the link below)
