President's Message 26 July 2025
Kelly Binyon
President Message
Hi Everyone,
Welcome to this week’s bulletin – packed with updates and a few thank yous!
💐 Get Well Soon
A big shout-out to Gail Birchall – we’re thinking of you and hope you’re back to full strength soon.
👏 Congratulations
To President-Elect Sue, who started a new role this week – well done and best of luck in your new adventure!
Week 4 Recap – A Spirited Start!
Our first vocational visit of the Rotary year was a great success!
Eighteen members joined us at Great Ocean Road Gin (yes, just behind Bunnings!) for a fantastic afternoon of learning, tasting and chatting. Hosts Ann and Chris took us through the art of gin-making, from botanicals to mixers, with warmth and knowledge. Great company, great nibbles, and all wrapped up by 6pm. Thanks to everyone who came along!
Rotary in Action – Foundation Focus
I’m delighted to announce that PDG & PP Phil Beasley will step into the role of Foundation Director this year. Phil will lead the charge on the End Polio campaign, which ties directly into the District Governor’s focus. Thanks, Phil – we’re lucky to have you on board!
Board Update
No formal meeting this month (blame winter travel and colds!) but we’ve handled a few urgent items via email. Our next full in-person Board Meeting will be held on Thursday 15 August at Kithbrooke Park – time TBC.
This Week at a Glance
Sunday 27 July – Bunnings BBQ
Check the roster, wear your winter woollies, and thanks in advance to those towing the trailer and working a shift!
Monday 28 July – Christmas in July: Home Hosts
Thanks to our generous hosts: Neil & Mary Henderson, Trevor Pickles, Gail Rooney, Paul and myself. If you RSVPed, check your inbox for details and reach out to your host if needed. It’s going to be a festive night – and yes, I’ve had the oven cleaned!
Coming Up – Monday 4 August
Jade Hopper, Special Counsel – Nicholes Family Lawyers
Jade will share powerful insights into complex family law, tying into our commitment to raise awareness around Domestic & Family Violence.
Please invite friends, neighbours and colleagues – all are welcome. Let's fill the room for this important talk.
And Finally…
There’s nothing like the sound of rain on the roof – and fingers crossed it's falling where it’s most needed. A reminder that the RAWCS Western Victoria Drought Appeal is still open and every donation helps. (Details below.)
Please check our facebook page for photos I have uploaded from this week.
Have a great week, and stay dry!
Warm regards,
Kelly Binyon President – Rotary Club of Torquay
