Welcome to President’s Letter and Grand Final Week.

Thank you for reading our weekly Bulletin.
I hope you have all stocked up on footy food and are ready for the big day. May it be a great and close game. Close, like the second prelim last weekend.
I will leave the reporting of the Information Evening to Bruce. It was great to see our guests - Ayumi and her parents present, and hopefully we helped increase their knowledge about Rotary. Thank you to Erika, Gillian and Catherine for joining us and hopefully they gained something from the night.

Resale Shed
We will be manning the Resale Shed on Saturday. It is usually a fun day, and we will only need to be there until 2.15 pm and then head home to watch the game. Let’s see who goes home with more than they came with!

Monday Night
Monday night will be our second Club Assembly – so I hope you will all come to Kithbrooke, Lakehouse. It was a productive Club Assembly earlier this month, and let us make this one equally as productive. This is your Club, and I would like your input into where we are headed and how we get there. So come along and join in our pathway forward

Judy Rutter
Last Friday we said farewell to Judy at a beautiful Celebration / Funeral at Torquay Surf Club. Judy had an amazing life and did some fantastic things. Good bye Judy, Rest in Peace. We were so lucky to have had you in our lives.

Have a great weekend. Enjoy the Grand Final, and may the best team win.
Stay safe. Linda

Overview of Member Information Night

Member Information Night

Last Monday, our club held a Member Information Night designed to provide members, particularly those newer to Rotary, with a better understanding of Rotary, its various areas of activity, and how these connect with the work of our own club.

An important purpose of the evening was to help ensure that, when we talk to prospective members, friends, family or other members of the community about our club and Rotary, we are all providing consistent and accurate information. In other words, the evening was intended to ensure that we are all working from the same “playbook” when explaining who we are, what Rotary does, and how our club contributes.

The evening provided an opportunity to revisit some of the basics of Rotary while also exploring the organisations, programmes and areas of service that sit behind much of what we do. Importantly, the presentations also gave members an insight into how our club has been involved, both historically and currently, in a range of Rotary projects and causes.

The evening covered four key areas of Rotary activity, with presentations from members who were able to share their knowledge and experience.

Walk With Us to End Polio

The Walk With Us to End Polio campaign is organized by Rotary International to support the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, which has reduced polio cases by 99.9% since 1979. Polio remains endemic only in Afghanistan and Pakistan, but continued efforts are essential to prevent its resurgence

The campaign invites participants worldwide to take part in a month-long fitness challenge throughout October, raising funds to help vaccinate children and move closer to a polio-free world

At Torquay Rotary, we're challenging ourselves to walk, run or roll 10, 20, or 50km throughout the month and raise vital funds that will help eradicate and prepare us for a Polio free world.

Barwon Health - Palliative Care Drivers needed

Volunteer Services at Barwon Health is urgently seeking additional volunteers to join our Volunteer Patient Transport Program.

We currently have extensive vacancies across our driver roster, which is impacting our ability to provide transport to patients who rely on this service to attend essential appointments. Unfortunately, we are increasingly having to turn away members of our community who are among our most vulnerable and have limited transport options.

We are asking our existing Palliative care volunteers to consider whether they, or someone they know within our organisation, may be able to assist.
