How good it was to hear from our Club Directors/Chairs and coordinators of our upcoming club activities, programs, and projects – and to be updated on those we have been able to do during recent months.
It does make you feel good to know the time and effort we put in goes to helping communities locally and ‘further afield’.
27 of us online Monday evening enjoyed hearing of the updates, news, and activities within our club.
Lesley updated us on the Walk to End Polio, and of the ‘Big’ End Polio night to be held online on Monday (25th Oct). This is a District Event – and one I would encourage everyone who can to log on to.
How great it is to have raised (by Monday 18th Oct) $1,788 for this End Polio Campaign.
Lesley has a goal of raising $2,000 from our club by Monday 25th – Lets see if we can make it….

We had an update on our walkers, walking our nominated distances for this End Polio month. All those walking, are requested to ‘Log’ your time spent walking, either on the site, or email your hours to Lesley.
Lesley updated us on the Vaccine requirements, of both members and volunteers, and the need, and importance, for us to comply. Although the regulations change, we as a club, have to comply with the directive of the time.
These directives come from both Government and local authorities.

We are all going to have to ‘stick together’ with this and do whatever is required at the time.
Greg updated us on the Public Image Team (PIT Crew) and their proposals for the (hopefully) not too distant future.
Once Face 2 Face meetings have (re) commenced, they will start to interview us club members, and compile a series of small ‘member videos’ asking us a question or 2 about ‘You’ and Rotary.
These can be used as promotion, for District Events (often videos of clubs and members are requested), and for use within our club.

Greg mentioned the Motor Show and the hope we can run this event again in 2022.
The Motor Show Team are looking at the options, requirements, along with the rules and regulations around running and hosting the event.
Greg discussed the Rotary Apparel. There has been a lot of work put in to securing garments and appropriate design for our club.
Once all confirmed, a request will be sent to all members for you to place your order.
Bruce Turner mentioned the Pets on Parade show. This will launch on November 1st and run until December 8th.
Bruce and his team have put a lot of work into this event already, planning, seeking support and sponsorship, designing promotional material, and preparing for the big launch.
There has been some great support already for this event, and some amazing prizes already donated!
Funds raised this year will once again go to End Trachoma.
John Oswald spoke and updated us on the Lese Oalai School, and the compostable toilet project – which John has submitted a grant for, to help raise the funds.
John has been delivering goods to Donations in Kind in North Geelong, with the occasional help of other members.
As this is becoming quite a regular activity – John asked for some help with driving the goods in. Martin Duke volunteered. If anyone else can help – please contact John Oswald.
Rhonda spoke on the Environmental Programs and ESRAG (Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group), and the involvement she has had over recent weeks attending meetings, information sessions and doing an accredited Ambassador Course – which comes with a certified certificate once completed. Congratulations Rhonda – Well Done!
Rhonda mentioned the Ian Riseley tree planting program, the Jan Juc working bees, and the range of items we – our club – are collecting and donating to very worthwhile causes.

Mal advised us of the Bunnings BBQ held on the 17th of October – and around $700 profit made. Great work folks! Many thanks to the team on the day.
Thanks to Mal, we have been donated around 75 pieces of Display Artwork.
We have managed to secure the old Bendigo Bank premises in Gilbert St, for the Melbourne Cup ‘Long weekend’.
We are going to have a ‘Pop up Shop’, and sell these Art Pieces – which are all framed.
Mal has requested volunteers for the weekend to help sell these pieces, to raise funds for the club.
The intention is to put a ‘couple’ of tables of books in there too and sell some of our stock.
Lesley is looking at all our regulations and requirements – Thank you Lesley.

The Lift the Lid fundraising period has been closed through the TryBookings site for this year.
We raised $514 this year, which will be donated to this very worthwhile cause, Mental Health Research.
Vernon is still not 100%. Until his eyesight improves, he is limited to what he is able to do. This includes no driving. Vernon is very fortunate to have Charmaine to take care of him, including driving when and to where need be.
We hope Vernon soon improves and look forward to catching up with him.

As it will be for World Polio Day, the whole of District 9780 will be joining in for this online meeting.
Please note this meeting will commence at 7.00pm.
Last week I sent an email out for you to order a ‘Rotary’ Face Mask. You will need to respond to that email by this coming Tuesday – refer to the email for all details.
We are hoping we will be able to meet Face 2 Face again in the near future.
