PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Greetings and welcome. Thank you for joining our online news and updates.
One of our challengers as a club over the last twelve months has been to tackle the use of technology on several fronts. The most recent being the trial of the new Clubrunner Nova. Under the guidance of Howard Randall, it was decided to give “Nova” a try as it was believed that many of the new features would be very useful as we progressed through planning for the District Conference and our annual Motor Show. Members of the Board and some committee members have had first-hand experience at using the new package, but Monday was the first introduction for many of our members. Howard gave us all a very informative, step by step introduction to the aspects we will need to become comfortable with.  We again had excellent attendance numbers, which was a very positive response from you all, indicating an interest and willingness to take this on board. The trial has been an interesting process, and our feedback providing suggestions/solutions to overcome a few difficulties have been very well received by the developers. While we are still getting our head around a few new features, we are quite excited to be using some of the improved features such as “volunteer registration”. As discussed on the night, a good starting point is for you to check on your own details so please visit My Rotary and see if you can navigate your way around. While there, check that your details such as email address and mobile number are up to date. If you don’t have a photo in your profile, it would be great to add one to your page. Don’t hesitate to contact myself or Howard if you require assistance.

Last weekend a few of our members attended the Cancer Council High Tea fundraiser arranged by the Geelong Bayside Rotary Club. Judy Beasley and her team did a fantastic job of putting on a very enjoyable and fun event. They are to be congratulated on raising such a wonderful amount of much needed funds for the Cancer Council.

I’m sure those of you who attended the ABBA social night will have had a great time – I look forward to seeing the photos.
Our next face to face club meeting will be on Monday June 2 when we will be provided with an update on All Aboard DisABILITY Services major project “The Junction” which will be a one-stop shop for disability and support services. Make sure you get your registration in and hear what is planned with this exciting project.

Torquay Rotary Conference Knitted Squares Blanket Example

Here is a photo of a blanket that Mary made from the knitted Rotary Conference squares.

Lovely to see an example of the finished product.

Neil Henderson suggested that it probably needs a beige room :-)
Rotary Geelong East Biggest Morning Tea at Night

Rotary Geelong East is hosting an evening event for the Cancer Council. You are likely to be familiar with the Biggest Morning Tea promotion run by the Council every year.
This year we are making it a little different. We are holding it at night.   We would like to invite you to join us on 27th May at 6.30pm (until 8.00pm) for a night of fun and enjoyment in raising funds for Cancer research.  The venue is Newcomb Library (upstairs room).
