Presidents Report

Welcome to our weekly Bulletin. Hope you have enjoyed the sun, but also the cooler days in front of warm and comforting fire. The footy finals are well and truly in the news. If your team is still in it, good luck. If they aren’t then let’s sit back and enjoy the rest of the games and we won’t be at all nervous!
Take care and have an amazing week. Linda

Board Meeting

Monday night saw five of us meet (one online) with three others away on holidays and two unwell. It was a good meeting with some great discussions. The minutes will be sent via the Bulletin and a link, so Rotarian members can access via a link within the month.
We will be having another Club Assembly on 28th September to discuss another Club progression. Please could all members attend. This is your club and your input is valuable, just like it was a fortnight ago.

Dinner Meetings

It is great to see 20 members attending dinner meetings. Could members please remember they must register, even if they are owed money from previous meetings and are trying to catch up. Ensure that you let the Meeting convenor know; or Neil H or Linda N. We can then let the cook/chef know the numbers. It is a bit hard to know numbers when people do not register or let us know they are coming.

Meeting Set Up

Please could we have some volunteers to help set up and then pack up before and after meetings? Many hands make light work.  It is not okay that the same people have to do this while others come eat, attend meeting and then leave. Please be a bit considerate to fellow Rotarians.

Rosters

Please check the rosters. We are short at the Resale Shed next Saturday. We need one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Please help us out if you can. I know that it is Grand Final Day, but we will be finished before the game starts. Thank you in anticipation.
Stories

Walk With Us to End Polio

The Walk With Us to End Polio campaign is organized by Rotary International to support the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, which has reduced polio cases by 99.9% since 1979. Polio remains endemic only in Afghanistan and Pakistan, but continued efforts are essential to prevent its resurgence

The campaign invites participants worldwide to take part in a month-long fitness challenge throughout October, raising funds to help vaccinate children and move closer to a polio-free world

At Torquay Rotary, we're challenging ourselves to walk, run or roll 10, 20, or 50km throughout the month and raise vital funds that will help eradicate and prepare us for a Polio free world.

Collections for Our Village

We have been supporting Our Village over the last few years. They are in need of Nappies and wipes; as well as coats and jackets for children from infancy through to 16-year-olds.

Could I ask for donations to be brought to our Information Night at Oaktree Place on 21st September. I will deliver them the next day. Please help out if you possibly can. If your Grandchildren have grown out of clothes and they are in good condition I am happy to deliver them as well.

Thank you so much

Barwon Health - Palliative Care Drivers needed

Volunteer Services at Barwon Health isurgently seeking additional volunteers to join our Volunteer Patient Transport Program.

We currently haveextensive vacancies across our driver roster, which is impacting our ability to provide transport to patients who rely on this service to attend essential appointments. Unfortunately, we are increasingly having toturn away members of our community who are among our most vulnerable and have limited transport options

We are asking our existing Palliative care volunteers to consider whether they, or someone they know within our organisation, may be able to assist.
