Presidents Report

Whilst I was away at a Rotary Dinner at Merewether in NSW, eating perfectly cooked roast chicken and afters of a delicious creme brulee, I hear the Rotary Club of Torquay was enjoying cuisine from distant lands.  Newcastle and Geelong have a lot in common and I felt very welcome at the Newcastle Sunrise Golf Dinner.  They have just had their inaugural "100 hole Golf tournament" (!!) and although I can't imagine finding that many balls, I believe the day was very successful and promising for future years.

I have eaten often at Wholefoods Kitchen and hope you enjoyed the ambiance and tastes as much as I have.  Diversitat is an innovative and solid organisation in Geelong, supporting so many people who have come to live in our region.  Well done Maggie for organising such a great night.

I shall see you next Monday when we have as our guests the generous and astute Motor Show Judges, with a report and presentation of the Show by Greg and Rudi.  See you there.....

  • Training departments is an accredited facility operating on a fee for service basis

  • Community radio station Pulse 94.7FM is run by Diversitat

Nepalese Society Update

On behalf of Geelong Nepalese Association I would like to thank you all again for your support for Nepal Earthquake Victims
I would like to let you know that we already spent $1,335.00 for Lito program and with this money we distributed 1,000 packet of Lito in different places and $500.00 in a school (Srijansil Children Welfare) project.
I have attached few photos with the school program.
I am going to Nepal on 10th of December and will back on 1st of January.
I will participate to handover rest of the collected funds to different projects.
I have attached a file with the concept to make more beneficial to both parties - sponsors and sponsored projects. This concept can work more effectively.
After my visit to Nepal I will provide all contact details of the sponsored projects to relevant sponsors so that you will be able to visit the projects you sponsored when you will be in Nepal or you can follow them for the update
We would like to let you know that we will be giving certificates to our Donors at the  Pako Festa on 27th of February 2016 – Hope you can join us

Gateways Christmas gift wrapping update

Thank you to those volunteers who have already offered their time to support our Christmas gift wrapping at Westfield this year!

This is a fantastic fundraiser for us to help us continue providing children and adults with a disability and their families the extra support they need. This year will hopefully be the biggest yet, as we’re very excited that our year long term community partner Westfield Geelong are very generously matching every dollar raised up to $5,000!

We are still looking for volunteers who would like to help out to fill a number of shifts. View a copy of the latest roster showing the available times here. If you or anyone that you know might be able to help fill these it would be greatly appreciated! Please call Toni Wilson on 5221 2984 or email volunteer@gateways.com.au

MEETING APOLOGIES - What do I do?

Notifying someone about changes to your meeting attendance is your responsibility!

Our meetings have catered dinners, so if you are unable to attend a meeting, or if your partner is unable to attend a designated Partner's Night, YOU MUST ADVISE us of your or your partner’s absence.  This also applies if you are attending the meeting but not dining.

There are two ways to do this, either record the information in advance in the "Apology Book" that is available at the book in table at each meeting or telephone 03-5222-2022.  An answering service operates out of hours.
  • All apologies must be made no later than 9.00AM on the Monday of the meeting (unless other arrangements were addressed in the Bulletin).
  • If no apology is recorded by that time, the absentee member will be issued with an invoice to pay the Club the dinner fee of $25 for your non-attendance, and/or that of your partner if it is an official Partner's Night.

  • On "Partners Nights" it is a different arrangement as it will be assumed that your partner WILL BE attending unless you apologise for them!
Remember if you are bringing guests or your partner (to a non-partner night) you need to notify us of the extra number of persons who will be attending.

Absence when away on travel is not an excuse.  It is your reasonability to lodge your apology and it is recommended that this be recorded beforehand in the “Apology Book” to save you remembering each week whilst you are away.
