President's Report No 44

Hi Everyone,
Hope you're all enjoying the long weekend wherever you may be. 🏞
I know quite a few of you were itching to hit the road to somewhere!!🚗

Last week's meeting saw us gain a much better understanding of what Melinda Gill and her husband Sam do for survivors of abuse in the Phillipines. It was confronting but good to know our funds support so many people.🙌

No meeting ❌ this week due to Queen's 👸🏻Birthday Long Weekend.

📣 Remember you can connect to District & International Conference speakers/sessions by checking the relevant websites.🖥

As always stay safe and I'll see you all on the 15th June😊

Yours in Rotary Service,
Kelly

Last weeks Zoom Meeting presentation from Melinda Gill and Partner Sam gave us an insight into their business that trains and provides careers to disadvantaged women in the Philliipines has been working
hard to continue to support their suspended employees through the COVID-19 Pandemic. By our Club repurposing our current District Grant to continue that we have enabled them to provide support to up to 12 of the most vulnerable suspended employees (e.g. pregnant women or those with very large households) at $165 per month for three months if they have no other household income.

Hilarious Job Search

1. My first job was working in an orange juice factory,  but I got canned. Just couldn't concentrate.

2. Then I worked in the woods as a Lumberjack, But just couldn't hack it, so they gave me the axe.

3. After that, I tried being a Tailor,
but wasn't suited for it -- mainly because it was a sew-sew job.

4. Next, I tried working in Starbucks,
But I had to quit because it was the same old grind.

5. Then, I tried being a Chef - figured it would add a little spice to my life,  but just didn't have the thyme.

6. Next, I attempted being a Deli Worker,
but any way I sliced it.... I couldn't cut the mustard.

7. My best job was a Musician,
but eventually found I wasn't noteworthy.

8. I studied a long time to become a Doctor,  but didn't have any patience.

9. Next, was a job in a Shoe Factory. Tried hard but just didn't fit in.

10.  I became a Professional Fisherman,
but discovered I couldn't live on my net income.

11. I managed to get a good job working for a Pool Maintenance company , but the work was just too draining.

12.. So then I got a job in a Workout Centre, but they said I wasn't fit for the job...

13. After many years of trying to find steady work,  I finally got a job as a Historian - until I realized there was no future in it..

14. My last job was when I tried working in a Muffler Factory,  but that was too exhausting.

 15.So, I tried retirement!

AND I FOUND I'M PERFECT FOR THE JOB!

Make-Ups......it's Never Been Easier

Here's a challenge for everyone...….in these "different" times in which we are living there are more and more Clubs now holding on-line meetings so now it's easier than it's ever been to do a make-up.smiley

You can do them from the comfort of your own home and you don't even have to get dressed up.laugh

Let's have a club challenge to see who can do a make up form the most interesting city. Be sure to grab a screen shot of your meeting and send to me for the bulletin.

What a great way to meet other Rotarians from around the world and to find out how they are living through the COVID-19 lockdowns.

To make it easy the Rotary Club of Mount Lawley in WA have begun compiling a list of Clubs who are now holding On-Line Meetings to view the list click the link below.

Good Luck with the Challenge and I
