President Gaynor is on Leave
President Gaynor and Treasurer Rudi are away on holidays so there is no Presidents Report as such this week.
We are right in the middle of the busiest time of year for our Club with BBQ's at Baines Cres and the first Night Jar Market Parking already completed.
So can I please remind you to check your commitments for the many coming events and if you are available to assist with other tasks particularly the Book Fair set-up and "The 4th Night" Night Jar Market as there will be an increased work load for these two events, then please contact the Co-ordinators.
  • Book Fair:- Bump-in and sorting begins 23rd Jan Ronda Anchen ph 0488388115
  • Night Jar Market Parking Brian Mynott ph 0409569235
  • Cowrie Market on 21st Jan
Look forward to seeing you all at Cosy Corner for a catch up tomorrow night.
Book Fair Update - Extra Help Needed

Book Fair

We can still take more books which may be dropped at Tyrepower Torquay 4 Winki Way (next to Bunnings) during Business Hours

Due to quantity of books we have now received, there is little to no room left in the storage container!! So ..... there is no longer a working bee on the 7th of January ---- we will sort the books out as we transport them to the scout hall on the 23rd, 24th and 25th January.

Set up days 23rd, 24th and 25th January at the Torquay Scout Hall

Between the hours of 9.00am and 4.00pm

We are asking for volunteers to help transport books on this day as well as sorting and set up of table  displays of books at the hall.

Members with trailers or utes would be of great benefit, for transporting boxes of books.

We are also asking for volunteers to work in the scout hall

Anyone with time they can spare will be very much appreciated.

Please contact me on

or phone 0488 388 115

to advise your availability.

Look forward to seeing as many people as possible on the 23rd

Rhonda Anchen

It's Motor Show time! Sunday 11th Feb
This year's Motor Show will be rolling in quickly following our busy BBQ, Book Fair and Night Jar Market Parking. Please think about your availability and what task you may be interested in performing on the Day. Vernon and Lesley will be compiling the Draft Roster for volunteers during the next couple of weeks.
Please also canvass Partners, Friends and Family who may be able to assist us.
Please contact Vernon 0408 331661 or Lesley 0417 112064 if you are unavailable or have any additional helpers to enlist.
We expect more than 300 Vintage, Veteran, Classic and Contemporary Cars and Motor Cycles to compete for trophies in 26 Classes including a new class for Best Volkswagen.
Spectators will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with these stunning automotive gems. You will be in awe of the craftsmanship that has gone into both the original design & the manufacture of these much-loved vehicles and the restoration skills of the passionate owners who have lovingly cared for them.
There has been some additional tweaking of Classes to even out entry numbers so we encourage everyone to visit our website to take a look at the revised Entry Form.
You are invited to join in the carnival atmosphere of this popular event held at the spectacular beach side setting of the Torquay foreshore.
This is a “Show for the whole family” with, the Beach for the kids, the Shops for the Ladies and the Cars for the Boys!
Entry Fees remain the same for 2018 at $20 for car & driver, with Adults $5 & Children free.
Many attractions will be available to entertain, plus food, good coffee, refreshments & memorabilia on sale.
This event is proudly supported by the RACV & other local traders with proceeds from the event to be used for Local, National and International Rotary projects.
Or check the website for entry forms and further details:-

Dinner Meeting Registration & Apologies

Notifying someone about changes to your meeting attendance is your responsibility!
Our meetings have catered dinners, so if you are unable to attend a meeting, or if your partner is unable
to attend a designated Partner's Night, YOU MUST ADVISE us of your or your partner’s absence.
This also applies if you are attending the meeting but not dining.
There are two ways to do this, either record the information in advance in the "Apology Book"
that is available at the check in table at each meeting or telephone 03-5222-2022.
An answering service operates out of hours.
  • All apologies must be made no later than 9.00AM on the Monday of the meeting (unless other arrangements
  • were addressed in the Bulletin).
  • If no apology is recorded by that time, the absentee member will be issued with an invoice to pay the Club the
  • usual dinner fee of $25 for your non-attendance, and/or that of your partner if it is an official Partner's Night.
  • On "Partners Nights" it is a different arrangement as it will be assumed that your partner WILL BE attending unless you apologise for them!
Remember if you are bringing guests or your partner (to a non-partner night) you need to notify us of the extra number of persons who will be attending.
Absence when away on travel is not an excuse.  It is your reasonability to lodge your apology and it is recommended that this
be recorded beforehand in the “Apology Book” to save you remembering each week whilst you are away.
