PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Greetings and welcome. Thank you for joining our online news and updates.
How good has it been to see the rain!!!! We can only hope that it has made it to the areas in need and that it brings a little relief. I’m sure we all have an appreciation for that this is just a fraction of what is needed and even if magically the dams were filled and feed supply became abundant, there would still be a lot to do to get families back on track. With this in mind it was very pleasing to hear that the plans for directing the RAWCS Western Victoria Drought Relief Funds are taking current and future needs of the affected communities into consideration. The second of the RAWCS Western Victoria Drought Relief Fund meetings was held on Thursday night, where we were informed that funds have already exceeded $50,000. Input is currently being sort from people “on the ground” to establish the best use of funds and what our Rotary Clubs can do to help out with support. The Rotary Club of Torquay board has approved the allocation of $3000 for this Fund as part of our current Fund Disbursements. We will keep you informed as developments come to hand.
As a reminder, this is the Project Description:
Western Victoria region has been severely impacted by drought with farming land dry and baron and livestock feed running out fast. Beyond livestock feed, the impact of the drought with the heartbreaking hardships the farming families themselves are facing as they watch their animals deteriorate. Mental health issues are often paramount. Some families themselves go without to ensure their livestock survive. This Rotary project intends to raise funds to support humanitarian relief projects for those impacted in the drought affected regions of Western Victoria.
Check out the flyers down below for a couple interesting workshops coming up at the Torquay Community House. If you have friends or family you think may be interested in these please share the information with them.
We have been advertising the Club Changeover under “Save the Date” for a few editions now, so am I hopeful you already have it highlighted in your diary. This night of celebration is definitely a meeting you should encourage partners and family to attend as we reflect and acknowledge the success of the club over the last twelve.

Support Drought-Affected Western Victoria

Support Drought-Affected Communities in Western Victoria 🌾

Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) is stepping up to support communities in Western Victoria devastated by severe drought. Through our network of local Rotary Clubs and in partnership with local support agencies, we’re providing vital assistance where it’s needed most.
Farming families are facing unimaginable hardships—parched land, dwindling water supplies, and a desperate shortage of livestock feed. Many are sacrificing their own wellbeing just to keep their animals alive. The emotional and mental toll is profound.
This RAWCS project is raising funds to deliver humanitarian relief to those doing it toughest in the drought-stricken regions of Western Victoria.
