President's Report No 47

Hi Everyone,

Well this is my last Bulletin as President😢 (where did that 12 months go!) ⏰💨

A big 🙌 to Greg for publishing this for me each & every week. Your dedication is appreciated 🙏

Last week's meeting was very informative and thank you again to District Insurance Officer-Don Shields for the presentation & Howard Randall for chairing the night🤗

Unfortunately our Changeover plans have had to be rejigged to meet Covid19 restrictions but I'm sure we'll all make the most of it. Thanks Maggie for coordinating hosts-members & guests should have received their invitation via email by now📮

In closing I would like to thank you all for your support during what has been a year of incredible highs✅ and terrible lows⬇️. I'm glad I've been able to steer the ship through all of these times and will step down knowing the Club is going to be in good hands with soon-to-be President Jan👋

Tomorrow night's meeting will be a Wrap of 2019-20, I hope you can join me for my finale 💃

Yours in Rotary Service,
Kelly 😊

Stories
District "Virtual" Changeover

Torquay Rotary was well represented at the District Virtual Changeover event held on Microsoft Teams. In fact our Club made up 20% of the audience to see DG Rosanne Kava hand over the reins of the District to local Phil Beasley.

DG Phil introduced us to RI President for 2020-21 Holger Knaack from Germany.

DG Phil presented his focus for our District and the District Board & Leadership Team which are captured in the slides below

Judy Beasley presented her DG Partners project to the Audience which is the Indigenous Literacy Foundation's "Reading Opens Doors" project to provide books to remote Indigenous children. I'm sure we will hear more about this from Phil & Judy in coming months.

Clue Detective Puzzle Fundraiser
During this time of no hands on Rotary activities Clubs are being forced to be innovative when it comes to fundraising. The Rotary Club of Drysdale has created  one such program utilising Catherine Eagleson's Clue Detective Puzzles as a basis for this.

Our Club is discussing the extent to which we support this program however in the meantime you may be interested in getting involved individually, right now.

Make-Ups......it's Never Been Easier

Here's a challenge for everyone...….in these "different" times in which we are living there are more and more Clubs now holding on-line meetings so now it's easier than it's ever been to do a make-up.smiley

You can do them from the comfort of your own home and you don't even have to get dressed up.laugh

Let's have a club challenge to see who can do a make up form the most interesting city. Be sure to grab a screen shot of your meeting and send to me for the bulletin.

What a great way to meet other Rotarians from around the world and to find out how they are living through the COVID-19 lockdowns.

To make it easy the Rotary Club of Mount Lawley in WA have begun compiling a list of Clubs who are now holding On-Line Meetings to view the list click the link below.

Good Luck with the Challenge and I

Rotary Global Rewards Program

Rotary Global Rewards, our member benefits program, offers discounts on products and services from local and global
merchants, along with opportunities to give back to Rotary.

Over 33,000 members have signed in to use Rotary Global Rewards. To raise awareness of this program, you can:
  1. Recommend Rotary Global Rewards to all club members. They can visit www.rotary.org/globalrewards from a computer or download the Rotary Club Locator App to use the program on mobile devices.
  2. Post a "Rewards" link to www.rotary.org/globalrewards on your club and district websites. This gives members easier access to Rotary Global Rewards.
  3. Encourage club members to post offers on Rotary Global Rewards.
  4. Suggest that club members help the program grow in their communities by asking local merchants to post offers.
You can find instructional videos, how-to-guides, and promotional materials on the Rotary Global Rewards page of My Rotary.  If you have any questions about the program, write to rotaryglobalrewards@rotary.org.
