DEDICATION
‘The quality of being dedicated or committed to a task or purpose.

Greetings fellow Rotarians and anyone who happens to read our Bulletin…!
This week’s Bulletin report from me is going to be all about the wonderful people who got our major fundraiser off the ground, our dedicated Rotarians, and Volunteers.
From the word ‘GO’ books were donated and collected over the weeks leading up to the Book Fair and stored in people’s homes, garages, sheds, front & back porches, containers even, absolutely everywhere. A great deal of Rotarians and Volunteers collected boxes and bags of books and kept them in their homes until we were able to access the Premises that we occupied for just over a week. A huge effort had been put into collecting these books from as far as Fern Tree Gully where a certain Rotarian and his Son drove a truck (that was donated for the use of) to collect some 200 boxes worth of books in one hit, from a very generous donator.
Some 8 Rotarians and Volunteers also donated their time and physical strength to load and unload 4 pallets of books (approx. 200 boxes) from Lifeline in Geelong, and I gather there are another 4 pallets worth of books that will be collected over a period of time that will need sorting and storing in the Containers situated on a Rotarians property, which is where we keep all the boxes of books throughout the year until the next Book Fair.
The books in these containers needed sorting before and have been since the Book Fair all of which has been done, again by Rotarians and volunteers.
Books are still coming in from everywhere and everyone, and they all need to be sorted and stored which goes on throughout the year, leading up to the next Book Fair.
Needless to say, the Book Fair was an enormous hit, and we did extremely well, and everyone should be immensely proud of yourselves.
The figures will be released, probably in next weeks’ Bulletin as the Book Fair committee meet tomorrow morning and will go over everything then.
There are just too many Rotarians and Volunteers to say Thank You to, so I haven’t named any names specifically, but you do know who you are. Your time and dedication to making this such an incredible fundraiser is so very much appreciated.
A huge ‘Thank you’ to the people who went out of their way to negotiate acquiring the premises, which was perfect for us and at a bargain too. To the Committee that spent weeks, days, hours preparing and organising this event. To those who helped prepare the premises by cleaning it before and after. Those who helped set up everything, the tables, signage, sorted copious amounts of books and displayed them. For those who kept us safe by being a Covid Monitor and made sure that the customers kept to the guidelines. The tea-room was well stocked with plenty of refreshments and nibbles. To those of you who constantly, throughout those days, kept collecting books to replenish the tables and just kept everything running in a smooth an orderly manner.
Last but not at all least, a big ‘THANK YOU’ too to those of our pals in Probus, neighbours, friends and the MahJong ladies, and those who just came along to help us out and volunteered for a few hours, your time and help was very much appreciated, and we hope you will join us again next year. You’re always welcome.
That’s it from me this week and I hope you all have a safe and healthy week ahead. Our best wishes go out to John McDonald who is, unfortunately in hospital at this moment, we wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back home very soon.
Remember there is NO MEETING this week… and look forward to seeing all your happy, smiley faces again for our first Zoom Club Meeting for the year next week…!
