The night started off not so well. We had the first key and set up the room but where oh where is the key to the AV cupboard? Someone said try the meeting room, and yippee there it was. Then, to get the Microphone working. 2,3, 4 of us worked on this. Battery? Volume? - oops - how about we turn it on at the wall. Yes. Still not working - "testing" testing". Hmmm- what is this Mute function? We really are a bright bunch, but there was momentary and collective brown-out. Mike Reed - come back soon!
Along with the lack of our 2 Secretaries, we limped along. John, Mal, come back soon!
It was a pleasure to induct Rhonda Anchen as our newest Rotarian. She has hopes and ideas and has received encouragement (thank you Graeme McDonald) already to explore the world of Rotary.
Richard Mierzejewski has had many careers. I think I counted 6. As usual, the Rotarian Behind the Badge revealed a good yarn about his Polish heritage, various workplaces and roles. Read on to get the full story.
See you in footy or WAG garb for next week's Brownlow Night. Go Shinboners.
Well all I can say is that for those of you who missed last weeks meeting then you missed out on yet another extremely interesting life story from Richard Mierzejewski. I'm not going to write Richards biography here (because I wasn't Chairman and consequently didn't take notes), instead you will have to catch up with Richard and find out for yourself!
This is a football themed night so dress in your club colours or dress to impress. We also gave a guest direct from AFL House, Col Hutchinson, who will speak briefly about working behind the scenes and he may have some surprising stories to tell. Not to be missed as Col has actually been to a REAL Brownlow Night.
This is a partners invited night, different to how it has been in the past, so if your partner is coming please book them in by 9am on Monday 28 September 2015 ph 5222 2022. Please feel free to invite your friends (you just need to remember to book them in).
Also if anyone can bring one piece of football memorabilia (or more if you wish) it will add to the event and maybe Col could authenticate it.
We need some football decorations for about 5 tables so if we have any volunteers please let me know or if anyone has any ideas for the evening please give me a call.
It won't be a late night because we will want to get home to watch the Brownlow.
David Mitchell 0407 616 391 / 5222 2022.

I am partaking in a charity bike ride from Adelaide to

Notifying someone about changes to your meeting attendance is your responsibility!
Our meetings have catered dinners, so if you are unable to attend a meeting, or if your partner is unable to attend a designated Partner's Night, YOU MUST ADVISE us of your or your partner’s absence. This also applies if you are attending the meeting but not dining.
There are two ways to do this, either record the information in advance in the "Apology Book" that is available at the book in table at each meeting or telephone 03-5222-2022. An answering service operates out of hours.
All apologies must be made no later than 9.00AM on the Monday of the meeting (unless other arrangements were addressed in the Bulletin).
If no apology is recorded by that time, the absentee member will be issued with an invoice to pay the Club the dinner fee of $25 for your non-attendance, and/or that of your partner if it is an official Partner's Night.
On "Partners Nights" it is a different arrangement as it will be assumed that your partner WILL BE attending unless you apologise for them!
Remember if you are bringing guests or your partner (to a non-partner night) you need to notify us of the extra number of persons who will be attending.
Absence when away on travel is not an excuse. It is your reasonability to lodge your apology and it is recommended that this be recorded beforehand in the “Apology Book” to save you remembering each week whilst you are away.
