I hope you all enjoyed your Easter Weekend.
Thank you to all who volunteered on our BBQ at Rip Curl over the weekend.
With having last week ‘off’ and resting from publishing a bulletin, we will start with our last Monday meeting summary.
Our online meeting saw 24 of us log on.
We were certainly joined by ‘Royalty’ at our meeting, with Past District Governor Ron Pickford, Past District Governor Anthony Ohlsen – and our own Past District Governor Alan Anderson and District Governor Elect Designate Lesley Shedden.
Thank you to Past District Governor Alan Anderson for the invocation and proposing the toast to Rotary International.
After many hours of study and submissions, Rhonda Anchen has achieved the Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG) Certificate of Completion.
Congratulations Rhonda!
Trevor Hall was a late apology. With good reason though.
Trevor and Sue had family competing in the Baseball state championships ….. and they won!
So …. There was some well-deserved celebrations to be had. Congratulations team!
Our thoughts and best wishes are with Vernon and Charmaine D’Souza. Vernon has spent some time in hospital, and we hope is continuing to recover from his neurological problem effecting his eyesight.
There was some discussion on our environmental programs and recycling of products we all use.
Maggie is continuing to oversee the programs – but to update everyone, please note the following drop off points for your recycling items –
LIDS – These are to be now dropped into the Coles Supermarket. There is a large yellow bin for you to drop your unwanted lids into.
BLISTER PACKS – your used ‘pill packs’ can be recycled. For now, don’t throw them out, but keep them in a bag, and Maggie will let us know where to drop them off.
COFFEE PODS – your used coffee pods can be taken up to Mitre 10 in Torquay, where there is two bins, one for standard size and one for large pods. Please make sure you separate the pods you use, and they are placed in the right bin.
BREAD BAG TIES – more and more bakers are using recyclable ties these days. However, if you still have any plastic ones, President Elect Ben Featherson is still collecting them.
We were treated to a fascinating talk from Past District Governor Ron Pickford, and some of the many ‘hats’ he wears in the world of Rotary.
From our next face to face meeting at Kithbrooke Park, we are slightly changing the meeting schedule.
There will be a 6.25pm Gong – 5-minute warning – people can move to their seats.
At 6.30pm – the invocation, toast to Rotary International and meals served.
6.30 – 7pm – Dinner and social time.
As meals are finished, you can move into the Theatre Room, where the computer and Hybrid Camera will be set up.
Anyone wishing to join us online can log on at 7pm, when Rotary Business and reports will take place.
This will be followed by our guest speaker.
The meeting will close after the guest speaker.
President Michael
