What an action-packed weekend in Port Fairy!
Alison and I enjoyed time spent with District Governor John and Heather and Past District Governor Phil and Judy – including a very enjoyable couple of hours on DG John’s boat ……. Magic day!
Saturday night was a dinner for 25 Rotarians Hosted by John and Heather at ‘The Victoria Hotel’. An evening filled with lots of stories, laughs, catch ups ------ and (several) glasses of a nice Red ‘someone’ found!
Sunday was the official District Changeover. An event very well run.
Our ‘IT Guru’ Howard Randall had everything electronic ‘hooked up’ so anyone in the district, who wished, could ‘log on’ and be part of this official event. Lesley Shedden had the ‘hot link’ and electronic means emailed out to all Rotarians in the District for easy tuning in from their computer, to view and listen to the event.
All involved should be proud of Sunday – Well Done!
This was the official Changeover form Philip Beasley to John Clue as District Governor for this Rotary Year.
Unfortunately, District Secretary Lesley Shedden was unable to be there ---- however, DG John had arranged a special presentation to Lesley, where our Past President Jan ‘knocked’ on the door (at the appropriate time) and presented Lesley with a lovely orchid. With the aide of technology ---- we all at the luncheon in Port Fairy were able to witness and view the presentation.
It was pleasing to see a large number of Rotarians around the district ‘tune in’ for the changeover using the ‘online’ link.
Well Done Phil on your year ….. Congratulations and Welcome John to your year as our District Governor.
After returning Monday early afternoon, it was time to focus on Monday nights meeting.
I would like to thank you all for your involvement on Monday, for your participation and willingness to join in and be part of the many committees and groups I have proposed for this Rotary Year.
We have now formed these committees and have members in each to support the chairs, and team leaders.
The members who were unable to join us on Monday have the opportunity to contact me and join the teams of their choice.
You all would have (or should have) received a summary of all the committees, I emailed this out Monday night following our meeting.
If you missed out on receiving this summary ….. please let me know, and I will email it to you.
So ….. Thinking caps on Troops --- and if you have any thoughts, suggestions, ideas, or considerations, for this year of anything we can do, or be involved in as a club – please see your Chair/Coordinator/Team Leader – and discuss this with them or at a team meeting.
Don’t hold back ----- lets get the ideas rolling!
As mentioned on Monday, we are all members of this great club, and will continue to support the many programs, projects, and events we will be asked to assist with over the next 11 months.
Look forward to seeing you online Monday, as we all ‘Zoom In’!
Cheers
President Michael
