Thank you to those who were able to squeeze in our final meeting for the year. We had the opportunity to learn about ROMAC, (Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children). This amazing service has changed the lives of 400 children where they would otherwise have suffered any or all of ostracism, pain, starvation and a terrible death. More in Lesley's report later in this bulletin.
We are cranking up support for the Book Fair and then the Motor Show. Rhonda and Rudi have produced some excellent promotional material for both events, and as a secondary benefit, promoting Rotary.
Wishing you a safe and pleasant Christmas and New Year. We will be regrouping on 11 January at Cosy Corner for the iconic Fish N Chip night.
Finally, should you be at a party bringing in the New Year, here are the translated words to the Robbie Burn's song Auld Lang Syne: -
"Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and days of auld lang syne?
CHORUS:
For days of long ago, my dear,
for days of long ago,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for days of auld lang syne.
And surely you’ll buy your pint cup!
and surely I’ll buy mine!
And we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for days of auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine;
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since days of auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine;
But seas between us broad have roared
since days of auld lang syne.
CHORUS
And there’s a hand my trusty friend!
And give me a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for days of auld lang syne.
CHORUS"
With thanks,
Amanda
