Happy New Year and welcome to 2017
Hello everyone. I trust you had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year with family and friends and are looking forward to a busy and productive year in Rotary. I certainly am. With the Book Fair coming up in just a couple of weeks and the Motor Show to follow soon after, we know we are busy.
We are also in the middle of our busy season for sausage sizzles. Please check the roster carefully to be sure of meeting all commitments. We all know there can be times we can’t make a rostered commitment. If this happens please notify for a swap as early as possible via the BBQ Trading Post.

Vale Sue Williams – by DG Stephen Lamont
It is with much sadness that I advise Rotarians that AG Sue Williams passed away in Ballarat Hospital on Tuesday afternoon as a result of a major stroke. Sue was surrounded by her husband Alan and family and was pain free at the time of her passing.
Sue was a wonderful Rotarian and served in a number of ways at Club and District Level. A member of RC Horsham , Sue served as Treasurer and was recently elected as President Elect. At District level , Sue was a most dedicated member of District Youth Exchange Committee for many years. Sue was Chair of the Youth Exchange Committee for three years and her passion and knowledge of Youth Exchange was exemplary. Sue was also Treasurer of Rotary Youth Exchange Australia for many years.. The number of exchange students influenced by Sue is an incredible legacy.
Sue arrived in Australia from England as a sixteen year old with her parents and settled in Nhill. It was here that her passion for Girl Guides restarted Girl Guides in Nhill and this continued after moving to Horsham. Sue began work at PMG and it was here that she met a linesman( and soul mate ) by the name of Alan Williams. Sue and Alan became the dynamic duo and have both been recognized as Paul Harris Fellows for their commitment to community service and sharing the philosophy of Service About Self.
Sue has been part of the District Board as AG Youth for the last three years and was serving her final year in this role. I owe a debt of gratitude to her commitment , her knowledge and her sound advice on board matters , in particularly with regards to youth. Working with youth was Sue’s passion and seeing young people develop into wonderful adults was the reason Sue devoted so much of her time to this as a volunteer.
This is a sad time for Alan and family, however as friends we are most grateful that we were blessed to have shared the friendship and working relationship with such a wonderful Rotarian.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of AG Sue Williams, who died suddenly on January 4, will be held on Friday 13th Jan at 1.30pm.
