Hello everyone
I hope you enjoyed the long weekend and a week off from Rotary! It was certainly busy in our town, wasn’t it?
Only two weeks to go - District Conference registrations - and we’re doing breakfast on Sunday 2 April
Details for the breakfast on Sunday 2 April are now clear and quit simple for us. Mike and I met with Geelong East and DG Stephen at Geelong Mums on Thursday to check out our location and food details. It looks like there will be about 120 Rotarians on site on Sunday 2 April morning to help Geelong Mums pack bags of baby needs, check safety on donated car seats and strollers, pack toys, toiletries and/or sort clothing and donations. I’m looking forward to being there to serve breakfast and to better understand the outstanding work of this not for profit in Geelong.
Strathewen School visit – Monday 20 March, 2017
Gail and Karen have plans well under control for the annual visit of the students from Strathewen. At this stage we have 30 children, two past students, four staff and three parents and two grandparents attending. The itinerary for the day is quite complex with students from Prep through to Grade 6, all to have a surf lesson, lunch and other refreshments.
Thank you to Rotarians and friends who have offered to assist. If you can assist, I am sure Gail would love to hear from you. We know this is a day which is highly valued by the school, students and parents from Strathewen.
Ride the Bellarine – Sunday April 9
Plans are well underway now, of course, and you need to nominate your volunteer preferences for this event. Please respond promptly so the organisers can fill roles and see the gaps still to be filled or talk to Greg Plumridge about how you can assist.
Australian Rotary Health newsletter – have a read
I am disappointed I haven’t received any ideas to date.
As a club, we are qualified to apply for a District Grant for the 2017-18 year and really should take up this opportunity. Do you have ideas about projects we have planned or might consider next year for which $300 - $3000 would be helpful, remembering we must spend at least as much, if not more, of our own funds on the project.
I know this sounds simple but rather than just relying on the few members of the board, I would really like ideas from all members.
