Presidents Report No 29

From the President

Book Fair. Night Jar Market. Cadel Evans Race. What a week!

It is likely every one of us is involved in one, two or all maybe even all three of these events this week. It will be busy, demanding and at times stressful but hopefully you will also find some enjoyment and satisfaction in doing a great job. A huge thank you from me, on behalf of the club and Rotary, for your efforts. Well done everyone.

If you're not sure when you're on, the full roster for the Book Fair is below. If you have any difficulties in making any shift, please liaise with Rhonda.

Brian still needs early help at the Night Jar Market. If you can assist at 3pm please contact Brian. Being Australia Day, we expect this one to be at least as busy as the others have been, if not more so.

Congratulations To the Team on duty at the 3rd Night Jar parking last week.

Hi you hard workers.

Thanks for your work last night.
Some of you with early starts some coming straight from I'state flights and from a full day of work.
I very much appreciate your time and solid work.
I don't know about you but I found last night to be very tough.

Some of you have received Graham Gill's report of our gate takings being $1283.40.
Some time back someone suggested we count the number of cars which we parked.
Gaynor used a counter and recorded last nights number through the gate at 820 vehicles.
That was capacity, includes a lot of backfilling, and works out at donations being an average $1.57 per vehicle.

Dinner Meeting Registration & Apologies

MEETING APOLOGIES - What do I do?

Notifying someone about changes to your meeting attendance is your responsibility!

Our meetings have catered dinners, so if you are unable to attend a meeting, or if your partner is unable to attend a designated Partner's Night, YOU MUST ADVISE us of your or your partner’s absence.  This also applies if you are attending the meeting but not dining.

There are two ways to do this, either record the information in advance in the "Apology Book" that is available at the book in table at each meeting or telephone 03-5222-2022.  An answering service operates out of hours.
  • All apologies must be made no later than 9.00AM on the Monday of the meeting (unless other arrangements were addressed in the Bulletin).
  • If no apology is recorded by that time, the absentee member will be issued with an invoice to pay the Club the dinner fee of $25 for your non-attendance, and/or that of your partner if it is an official Partner's Night.

  • On "Partners Nights" it is a different arrangement as it will be assumed that your partner WILL BE attending unless you apologise for them!
Remember if you are bringing guests or your partner (to a non-partner night) you need to notify us of the extra number of persons who will be attending.

Absence when away on travel is not an excuse.  It is your reasonability to lodge your apology and it is recommended that this be recorded beforehand in the “Apology Book” to save you remembering each week whilst you are away.
