HEADSPACE BUSINESS CHARITY LUNCHEON
26TH MAY 2017 at the NEW GEELONG FOOTBALL CLUB GRANDSTAND
The Rotary Club of Belmont has made a 2 year commitment to Headspace
Geelong (young people aged between 12 and 25 in the Geelong region) to assist
with funding for specific community mentoring projects and in addition to help in
the mentoring of the young people in the Headspace Geelong program. Our aim is
to “make a difference” and reduce the number of young people suicides and
improve their mental health.
The Rotary Club of Belmont in conjunction with its Community
Partners supporting;
• Your Headspace;
• Your Youth; and
• Your community.
Headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early
intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in
promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. This covers four core areas: mental health,
physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services.
The Rotary Club of Belmont commitment and its relationship with Barwon CYF and
Headspace Geelong is targeted towards the health and wellbeing issues of our young
people within the greater Geelong community. We believe that in conjunction with
our community partners, by treating these issues early and providing a holistic model
of support, the risk of them developing into more serious problems is greatly
decreased.
It has been recognised that within the Geelong community an increasing number of
referrals of young people who are disengaged from education, training and social
settings is occurring. Some of these young people also suffer from severe anxiety,
preventing them from leaving their homes and participating in healthy
relationships/activities. Our luncheon is aimed at raising significant funds that then
can make a difference to our local youth.
All proceeds will go to Headspace Geelong.
