Presidents Report No 42

From the President

Bulletin No. 42 – From the President
As no objections were lodged in accordance with the protocols set down in the manual of procedure to the nomination of Past President Roseanne Kava of the Rotary Club of Swan Hill, DG Stephen Lamont has duly declared Roseanne to be the official District 9780 District Governor 2019-2020.
Anzac Day support – thank you
Although very wet and cold, thank you to everyone for your assistance on Anzac Day at the dawn service and following breakfasts.  Our support for the RSL is an important, long term one which this year raised over $3000 for the RSL. Thank you everyone. I am sure we will do it all again in 2018.
Dine with Cadel Evans (On the couch with Ian Cover) – Wednesday 12 July
Thanks to all your efforts in marshalling for the Cadel Evans cycle race over the past two years, Cadel will be our very special guest at a fund-raising dinner at the Surf Coast Hotel (Wyndham Resort) on Wednesday, 12 July, 2017.  The evening will be MC’d by Ian Cover of Coodabeens fame.
A committee headed by Howard Randall is well on the way to planning this event. At our last meeting, it was decided tickets would be $130 per standard ticket, $1200 for a standard table of 10 and $1500 for a premium table of 10.
Tickets will be available through TryBooking but as 25% of the tickets have already been ‘sold’, if you are interested in a table, I suggest you let myself or Howard know so it can be reserved for you.
I also seek your assistance in sourcing auction and raffle items, as this is a fund-raising dinner and we plan to have both an auction and raffle on the night. Funds from the event will go to Rotary Health Projects, these being Australian Rotary Health, Interplast, Romac and a local health project.

Anzac Day Report

Anzac Day Pictorial

A huge Thank You to everyone who assisted with the ANZAC Day Dawn Service in what could only be described as bleak conditions.
With numbers down due to the weather and the competing and an inaugural Dawn Service at Eastern Beach the dollars raised were also down from the past few years. Still a great result all things considered so thanks again to everyone for your help.

Raffle Proceeds $836,05
Other Donations $2276.05

Dinner Meeting Registration & Apologies

MEETING APOLOGIES - What do I do?

Notifying someone about changes to your meeting attendance is your responsibility!

Our meetings have catered dinners, so if you are unable to attend a meeting, or if your partner is unable to attend a designated Partner's Night, YOU MUST ADVISE us of your or your partner’s absence.  This also applies if you are attending the meeting but not dining.

There are two ways to do this, either record the information in advance in the "Apology Book" that is available at the book in table at each meeting or telephone 03-5222-2022.  An answering service operates out of hours.
  • All apologies must be made no later than 9.00AM on the Monday of the meeting (unless other arrangements were addressed in the Bulletin).
  • If no apology is recorded by that time, the absentee member will be issued with an invoice to pay the Club the dinner fee of $25 for your non-attendance, and/or that of your partner if it is an official Partner's Night.

  • On "Partners Nights" it is a different arrangement as it will be assumed that your partner WILL BE attending unless you apologise for them!
Remember if you are bringing guests or your partner (to a non-partner night) you need to notify us of the extra number of persons who will be attending.

Absence when away on travel is not an excuse.  It is your reasonability to lodge your apology and it is recommended that this be recorded beforehand in the “Apology Book” to save you remembering each week whilst you are away.
