Report No 22
Monday 27th November
Thanks to PDG Chris Sims for giving us a very interesting insight into Paul Harris and the start of Rotary and also to Lesley Shedden for reminding us all what a great Rotary program ROMAC is (Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children).
Our club has donated 44 Christmas Puddings to the Torquay Food Bank for Christmas Hampers. Anyone wanting more information about the local food bank can talk to Graham and Lois Gill.
So far we have given $1000 each to four schools for end of year awards- Bellbrae Primary School, St Therese Primary School, Torquay College and Surfcoast Secondary College
Please Save These Dates:
18th December at Torquay Hotel - Break up and Christmas Pary (Partner's invited)
8th January - Rotary recommences with Fish & Chips at Cozy Corner
Wednesday 24th and Thursday 26th January - all hand on deck for loading books and transporting from Bellbrae to the Scout Hall
Unfortunately this invitation as come at very short notice and falls at a very busy time of year, however it would be wonderful if our Club could have a representative present. Please talk to Gail Chrisfield if you are interested and able.
I realise it seems like a long way off at the moment but it will only be 11 weeks after Christmas, I thought I'd get in early so that you all have plenty of time to register for our Rotary Relay Team
Please find details of the event below.
Registration is discounted to $20 if you get in before February. CLICK HERE to Register and be sure to register as a member of the Torquay Rotary Club Team
If you would like any further details please contact me.
Please put the word out amongst Friends, Family, Neighbours & Work Colleagues for any unwanted books. We have had posters made for shops and staff notice boards calling for donations so please let me know if you need some.

Club Christmas Function at Torquay Hotel - Partners NIght
Notifying someone about changes to your meeting attendance is your responsibility!
Our meetings have catered dinners, so if you are unable to attend a meeting, or if your partner is unable
to attend a designated Partner's Night, YOU MUST ADVISE us of your or your partner’s absence.
This also applies if you are attending the meeting but not dining.
There are two ways to do this, either record the information in advance in the "Apology Book"
that is available at the check in table at each meeting or telephone 03-5222-2022.
An answering service operates out of hours.
All apologies must be made no later than 9.00AM on the Monday of the meeting (unless other arrangements
were addressed in the Bulletin).
If no apology is recorded by that time, the absentee member will be issued with an invoice to pay the Club the
usual dinner fee of $25 for your non-attendance, and/or that of your partner if it is an official Partner's Night.
On "Partners Nights" it is a different arrangement as it will be assumed that your partner WILL BE attending unless you apologise for them!
Remember if you are bringing guests or your partner (to a non-partner night) you need to notify us of the extra number of persons who will be attending.
Absence when away on travel is not an excuse. It is your reasonability to lodge your apology and it is recommended that this
be recorded beforehand in the “Apology Book” to save you remembering each week whilst you are away.
