Report No 8

Thanks to Greg Plumridge and Howard Randall for providing training on ClubRunner and My Rotary at our meeting on 21st August. Please use both these portals as they contain lots of useful information for all Rotarians. You will find our showcase of "Dine with Cadel Evans" at My Rotary > Take Action > Showcase

BBQ Roster
I have been notified that the proposed Friendship Exchange lunch on the 14th November has been cancelled , meaning yet another revision of the BBQ roster. Please make sure you let Malcolm Slater know if you cannot make shifts you have been allocated. Remember that once the roster has been finalised, if you need to make a change you will responsible for finding someone to stand in for you.

Working with Children Check
Please note all Rotarians are required to hold a Working with Children Card. If you do not have one, please apply online at http://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/

Please ensure that Linda Neale has your card number recorded.

Traffic Control Training at The Gordon, Geelong
Members who hold an expired card are asked to attend a half day refresher course on either 19th  October or 30th November
For members wishing to do a new course it will be over 2 days on either 12/13 October or 23/24 November.
Please let Brian Mynott or Greg Plumridge know so they can confirm bookings.

Urgent Call for President Elect
We must appoint a President for 2018/19!
With PETS occurring in Ballarat on the 21st October 2017 or in Horsham on the 22nd October 2017, and the DG visiting us on 18th September, this is becoming an urgent issue.
Please think about it seriously and call me if you are willing to take on this great opportunity.

Fireside Chats on 28th August
I hope you all have a wonderful social evening. A member from each group will be asked to give feedback and ideas to the club on 4th September, from your discussions over dinner. Please remember that dinners start at 6.30pm, hosts are given $20 per head for catering and you take your own drinks.

Walk In The Park

Once again our Ambassador for Parkinsons, Peter Bollen participated today in the annual "Walk in the Park" with "Pete's Pals" Team. On what was a very a bleak  day a number of Rotarians joined Pete, Cynthia and family (see pics of Maggie and John with their team T Shirts which were obviously not being worn as they would not provide enough protection from the elements.

Rotary Global Rewards Program

Rotary Global Rewards, our member benefits program, offers discounts on products and services from local and global
merchants, along with opportunities to give back to Rotary.

Over 33,000 members have signed in to use Rotary Global Rewards. To raise awareness of this program, you can:
  1. Recommend Rotary Global Rewards to all club members. They can visit www.rotary.org/globalrewards from a computer or download the Rotary Club Locator App to use the program on mobile devices.
  2. Post a "Rewards" link to www.rotary.org/globalrewards on your club and district websites. This gives members easier access to Rotary Global Rewards.
  3. Encourage club members to post offers on Rotary Global Rewards.
  4. Suggest that club members help the program grow in their communities by asking local merchants to post offers.
You can find instructional videos, how-to-guides, and promotional materials on the Rotary Global Rewards page of My Rotary.  If you have any questions about the program, write to rotaryglobalrewards@rotary.org.

Dinner Meeting Registration & Apologies

MEETING APOLOGIES - What do I do?

Notifying someone about changes to your meeting attendance is your responsibility!

Our meetings have catered dinners, so if you are unable to attend a meeting, or if your partner is unable
to attend a designated Partner's Night, YOU MUST ADVISE us of your or your partner’s absence.
This also applies if you are attending the meeting but not dining.

There are two ways to do this, either record the information in advance in the "Apology Book"
that is available at the check in table at each meeting or telephone 03-5222-2022.
An answering service operates out of hours.
  • All apologies must be made no later than 9.00AM on the Monday of the meeting (unless other arrangements
  • were addressed in the Bulletin).
  • If no apology is recorded by that time, the absentee member will be issued with an invoice to pay the Club the
  • usual dinner fee of $25 for your non-attendance, and/or that of your partner if it is an official Partner's Night.

  • On "Partners Nights" it is a different arrangement as it will be assumed that your partner WILL BE attending unless you apologise for them!
Remember if you are bringing guests or your partner (to a non-partner night) you need to notify us of the extra number of persons who will be attending.

Absence when away on travel is not an excuse.  It is your reasonability to lodge your apology and it is recommended that this
be recorded beforehand in the “Apology Book” to save you remembering each week whilst you are away.
