Dear Members

Last Monday we were treated to another inspiring presentation from one of the participants in our Club's Youth program. Mikkayla Baeck from Winchelsea was sponsored by our Club to attend RYLA earlier this year. (see Amanda's Report in this bulletin).

Fresh back form the Rotary International Conference in Sydney, Rudi Scholls gave us a presentation on the Conference, with a little help from Gaynor.

Thanks to all Rotarians who supported the Celebration & Giving event last Thursday I trust you all enjoyed the evening and the opportunity to socialise with some of our sponsors and recipients of our fundraising efforts.

Please remember that there will be No Monday meetings for the next two weeks.

Please take a few minutes to read DG Ken Mc Inerney's final newsletter. To read DG Kens newsletter CLICK HERE

It was with sadness that we learned of he passing of Trevor Pickles father last week at the age of 94. Our sympathy and thoughts go to Trevor, Gail and their family at this time.

See you all at Changeover on Sunday

Regards

Jeanette

Please remember that there will be NO MEETING this Monday 23rd June nor Monday 30th due to the Celebration event last Thursday and the Changeover next Sunday.

Please enjoy a night home with your families and we look forward to seeing you back at the Lions Village on 7th July.

Mikkayla Baeck RYLA

It was a pleasure to have Mikkayla Baeck and her parents Amanda & Greg as our guests on Monday 16th June. Mikkayla had been sponsored by the Rotary Club of Torquay to attend the most recent RYLA camp at Kangaroobie.

Mikkayla finished secondary school last year, and was looking for some ideas and pathways to take after graduation.  She readily accepted the offer of a Rotary Youth Leadership Award and believes that what she learnt and the people she met have made a profound impact on her life. She is  now keen to study Beauty Therapy and has started doing some local work for Deb Balls, Weddings etc.

Rather than describe her time at RYLA, Mikkayla chose to sing a self-penned song to us about her experience.
Thankyou Mikkayla, your song was beautiful.

Celebration and Giving Night

The Celebration and Giving event held last Thursday Nightwas a wonderful opportunity for our Club to meet and mingle with many of the Businesses, Groups and individuals who have supported us throughout the year. Also present were some of the beneficiaries of our Club's fundraising efforts such as Katie from Dogs for Kids with Disabilities and Andy Brittain and Jackson Barlow from Operation Newstart.
Mike Reed introduced the Fiji work team who reflected on what the trip meant to each of them individually. Certificates of appreciation were also presented to several of our supporters as seen in the photos at left.
