We are back into the swing of things and our first Club Assembly appeared very productive with interaction, ideas and decibels. And it was a pleasure to have our traveling Scotsman Ed and sailing Canadian Ken contribute too. All committees have presented some excellent ideas and worthy of development. We just need the time and resources!
Next week is the Motor Show Prep night. All volunteers will be allocated a role (or two) and we will again see our collective effort create a fabulous event......weather permitting.
"Sunday 14th February forecast 18-29 partial cloud." Perfect for a motor show!
Many thanks to all Torquay Rotarians, Friends & Family who volunteered as marshalls last weekend for the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race. We do not yet have all of the final details in of the fundraising results in as yet but will advise once we do. These funds are desperately needed to further the work of ROMAC.
Hopefully your efforts last weekend will also assist us in securing Cadel for a fundraising event for Romac later in the year.
Above are some of the memorable moments from the event taken by Rotarians and friends....enjoy!
PP Barbara Abbley from the RC of Corio Bay has brought to the attention of DG Jane Cox, the opportunity for Rotarians to make a difference in the life of someone with a disability if they are not doing so already. It is called the Oval Project which DG Jane has endorsed.
The "Torquay Rotary Zero Alcohol Maximum Fun" Team team is doing febfast 2016. So join in the febfast fun!
I've just joined febfast 2016, the 29 day health and wellbeing challenge that raises money for disadvantaged youth in Australia. I'm doing it as part of the Torquay Rotary Zero Alcohol Maximum Fun Team team, and I'm looking forward to kick-starting 2016 with something a little different.
The reason for my email? Well, many hands make light work and I reckon febfast would be easier (and more fun!) if you joined me. What do you say?
To get involved, click ‘Join This Team’ on our Team Page to register and help us fundraise.
If you aren't up for the challenge, it would be great if you could sponsor us by making a donation instead.
Cheers!
Greg (Plugga) Plumridge
PS: want to know more about febfast? Check out their website.
This year’s Rotary Golf event is scheduled for 29th February in lieu of a normal Rotary meeting at the RACV golf course.
Our golf event will be a purely social, fun day for all Rotarians and friends. So please invite your friends.
It will feature a 9 Hole novelty teams event suitable for all, (both golfers and non-golfers). Please come and join in.
Don’t be embarrassed even if you despair at your own golfing prowess. You will not be on your own!!
Everyone needs to be at the venue at 3.00 pm for booking in and walking to their tee in time for a 4.00 pm tee off.
We would like all Rotarians to play and to invite as many friends as they like.
This will be followed by the golf winners’ awards and our special Rotary Leap Year Fun Night at the Jan Juc Surf Club, organised by Graeme Kennedy.
You will soon receive a Clubrunner invitation for this event but in the meantime should you require any further details please contact me Darrel Brewin on 0417185071
Joe Camilleri & the Black Arrows are playing at the Bellarine Estate on Sun 14 Feb 2016 (the day of our Motor Show....Ed) .
All funds raised are being donated to support Faith & youth in the local area. Drysdale RC has negotiated a special deal. Some $10 a ticket is being donated back to Drysdale RC for all tickets sold by its members.
President Caroline from Drysdale RC is suggesting other Clubs make like to do the same to benefit their own projects. DG Jane Cox has endorsed the proposal. DG Jane will provide more information in the next edition of the Weekly E-bulletin which will be available Monday week.
A huge thank you to everyone who has been manning the BBQ's & Night Jar market Parking
Last week was another busy night parking cars with some of our newest members earning their stripes, whilst some of the older members were acting the goat. A very balmy summer night kept the team busy with lots of "gold coins" donated to contribute to our Clubs Rotary projects.

With Gentsomes, each team member tees off at each hole.
The captain selects the best tee shot, then each member drops his ball from this point and plays out the hole with his/her own ball. The selected drive is counted as the first shot of each of the team members for that particular hole.
There is one additional requirement. During the course of the round all player's drives must be used on 3 occasions, or as indicated by the organisers.
The method of scoring in Gentsomes is based on the popular Stableford format and prizes will be awarded for:
Team Stableford Score comprising the best 3 scores from each player for each hole
All players are eligible for NTP & Hole-in-One privileges, regardless of Tee shot restrictions.
Players without Official Handicaps will be allocated no more than 18.
Next year Surf Coast Relayers will come together and Relay at a new venue, Spring Creek Reserve, Torquay, and new time, 7pm Friday 18 March - 7pm Saturday 19th March 2016

Notifying someone about changes to your meeting attendance is your responsibility!
Our meetings have catered dinners, so if you are unable to attend a meeting, or if your partner is unable to attend a designated Partner's Night, YOU MUST ADVISE us of your or your partner’s absence. This also applies if you are attending the meeting but not dining.
There are two ways to do this, either record the information in advance in the "Apology Book" that is available at the book in table at each meeting or telephone 03-5222-2022. An answering service operates out of hours.
All apologies must be made no later than 9.00AM on the Monday of the meeting (unless other arrangements were addressed in the Bulletin).
If no apology is recorded by that time, the absentee member will be issued with an invoice to pay the Club the dinner fee of $25 for your non-attendance, and/or that of your partner if it is an official Partner's Night.
On "Partners Nights" it is a different arrangement as it will be assumed that your partner WILL BE attending unless you apologise for them!
Remember if you are bringing guests or your partner (to a non-partner night) you need to notify us of the extra number of persons who will be attending.
Absence when away on travel is not an excuse. It is your reasonability to lodge your apology and it is recommended that this be recorded beforehand in the “Apology Book” to save you remembering each week whilst you are away.
